CsCoastal Scrub
Coastal Scrub is found between coastal bluffs to areas far inland and is characterized by low growing drought-deciduous shrubs and perennials. Winds, a variety of soils, and low amounts of precipitation have forced plants to evolve into a diverse group of tough, aromatic plants. As this plant community has evolved in an environment similar to Chaparral but exhibits soft, fleshy leaves rather than stiff, waxy cuticles, this group of plants is commonly referred to as “Soft Chaparral”.
