Our Contributors

Without a doubt, the landscape "industry" contains some of the most unique, observant, intelligent, tasteful, skilled, thoughtful, and inspiring people to be found anywhere in California. Luckily, these same people often overflow with excitement and passion for their interests and work. But beware: their enthusiasm is contagious and spreads to all of us in the form of landscape inspiration and expert information!

The individuals and organizations below are all guilty of possessing an obscene amount of inspiration and information.  Luckily, for California, they have chosen to share a small amount of their expertise by becoming Contributors to this website.  Their experiences and insights can be found in the form of articles, plant information, landscape themes, blogs, plant reviews, comments, and imagery throughout the site.

Without these Contributors, this website could not be a reality. California is fortunate to have such stewards of the land within her boundaries.

Tree of Life Nursery LogoOver thirty years ago, Tree of Life Nursery began propagating California native plants with the notion that the developed hillsides and open spaces in the state were in desperate need of returning to their natural, beautiful forms. Today, the nursery supplies a high quality line of over 500 species and varieties for landscaping and ecological restoration at the wholesale level. Located on 40 acres of the historic Rancho Mission Viejo in San Juan Capistrano, Tree of Life Nursery, the largest native plant supplier in the state, provides a means by which California’s precious flora can return to the land.

As Landscape Resource emphasizes the importance of native plants in our cultivated landscape, a logical partnership with Tree of Life Nursery was formed.  Their deep, native understanding and love of California's flora is apparent in the quality of information they provide to this website.

General Contributors

rob maday photoRob Maday

Landscape Resource was created and developed by Rob Maday, ASLA, in order to help improve California's landscape. After years of meeting clients, colleagues, friends and family who were grossly unaware of the dire state of landscape throughout the State (extensive drought, offensive uses of water, ubiquitous use of pesticides and herbicides, invasive plant explosions, increasing storm run-off, mounting pollution levels, etc.), Maday chose to confront the information gap with a website capable of exciting and informing those outside of his sphere of influence about what an appropriate California landscape could resemble.
