Around the Neighborhood: A well-sited lawn.

Monday April 26, 2010

This corner provides all the usual suspects to tempt a passing dog:  street lamp, tree, fire hydrant and a luxurious 24 inch square patch of lawn.  Could the designer really not think of anything else that might grow in this space?

My first thought was "that poor tree!". But seriously, what groundcover would you recommend for that spot?

Yes, that tree is hurting for space. Regarding a plant for that location, I would suggest that no plant there would be best. But if pressed for one, I might suggest Dymondia, Creeping Thyme, or some clumping Fescue.
